Our 2008 season has now been and gone, and once again it lived up to expectations. Our
first night started
as usual at the Saracen's Head in Warburton. We then went on to Hollins
Green and then to Dunham. Our next outing was then on Wednesday 5th
November starting in Little Bollington and passing through Agden and
Lymm before going into Urmston and Flixton. Full details can be found in the Itinerary page.
Our night of the 6th November this year was another landmark in the current gang's
history in that it saw the son of one of our original gang joining in
this year. Our second father and son team, Dad having played Beelzebub the
previous two evenings.
The performances on Friday 7th
covering Ashley, Altrincham, Timperley and Hale turned out to be
the best night ever for full pubs and resulted in a record collection
for one night. We finally concluding the season on Saturday 8th
November.
This tour was of the usual format of previous years with the day
starting with a visit to Warburton Church for the annual Autumn Fair.
We then performed at a number of other venues during the day and early
evening with the season concluding in the Saracen's Head at around 9.30 in the evening.
This performance was followed with the usual session of
music and song.
This year, if for nothing else, must be remembers for the number
of cameras recording the performances. Whilst the Gang had made
arrangements for a couple of performances to be recorded on the last
day there were many, many more people there with cameras, whether phone
camera, digital camera or video. We'd like to take the opportunity of
thanking those people who've shared their pictures with us.
To cap a very good season we were able to present a cheque for £900 to Cotebrook House, our chosen charity for the season.
Laurence Armstrong presenting the cheque to
Mrs Gertrude Bull, Cotebrook Residents' Fund chairman,
and Janet Caldcleugh, senior care nurse.
